2005 MS Walk

Thanks to the generous help of many friends,
we were able to make a donation of $501 to the National MS Society this year!

 

Tacoma's Point Defiance Park is a beautiful place full of fruit blossoms and majestic old trees. It was a gorgeous day, and lots of folks spent the hour before the walk registering and milling around the various displays.

The crowd started off with a good stretch.
There were clowns and mascots and other demi-persons in attendance. This allegedly added to a festive atmosphere.
The ribbon was cut and the crowd surged down the garden path. That's the lovely Japanese Pagoda in the background.

Again this year, we encountered Klingons. That's our friend Gary on the left. In the larger image you will see Deb on the right and the Klingon in the middle.
If you have not been to Tacoma lately you may be surprised to see a new bridge going up next to the venerable Narrows Bridge. We got a good view of the construction from a vantage point in the park.
Here's a great idea, for which someone should be congratulated. At the end of the course we were greeted by a line of high-fiving Brownies! They were very enthusiastic and gave each walker a congratulatory whoop.
